State Loyalty

So, I know some very loyal people. I’m their friend, so they’re very loyal to me, but when I say loyal, I mean loyal to their state. No matter what is going on in their state if you speak badly about it, there will be problems.

But, what about sports?

I myself am from Pennsylvania, and I like/follow most Pennsylvania teams, but I wouldn’t say t hat I’m a FAN of all PA teams. I like the Pirates in baseball (I HARDLY follow baseball):

The Steelers in Football (even though I was a big Titans fan in the past because of Eddie George and Steve McNair):

The Penguins in Hockey:

Basketball is a little different for me. My mom was a HUGE Michael Jordan fan, and she passed that to me, so now I am the same. Because of that, I do not like the Sixers or any other team, because I don’t like teams as much as I liked the Bulls. It’s hard for me to root for any one team, so I just root for good games. I recognize greatness, but I don’t actively root for anyone.

But, I know plenty of people who root for teams completely outside of where they grew up, and I want to know why. What made you like that team? Was it parents, or was it something else?

QUESTION: Who are your teams, and do they line up with the state you’re from? Let’s talk about it in the comments!
