Articulation of a King

Do NOT Vote For Kanye West!

First and foremost, I don’t hate Kanye.

I don’t dislike Kanye.

Hell, I can even say when he was on top of his game musically, I really liked him, even though I felt as though his “confidence” was arrogance at times. I am able to recognize elevation when I see/hear it.

That being said, please don’t fool yourself into voting for Kanye when this election cycle hits, basing it off of who he is, as opposed to what he can actually do for us as black people.

First and foremost, we need to question why Kanye is running for office in the first place. If you take a look at his actions, especially in regards to the black community, he has been a detriment, plain and simple. His rhetoric has been harmful, for example, when he said, “Four hundred years of slavery? That sounds like a choice,” implying, much like someone like Dez Bryant, that the only reason black people are being held back is our own mental/psychological/social blocks, which is some small way is true, but systemic racism and oppression are both real things, and play a much larger role in the black psyche than us attempting to pull ourselves up.

Or what about when he said, “Certain icons are too far in the past and not relatable, and that’s what makes them safe. They’ll let you go on the Grammys and talk about slavery and racism because it’s not talking about buying stock; it’s not talking about buying property; it’s not talking about economic empowerment. You can go and talk about all of those things because it’s not scary,” when speaking about Harriet Tubman being deserving of being on the $20 bill, which he says directly motivated him to buy Bitcoin because he’s tired of hearing about slavery.

You know, much like white people who tell black people to “get over it,” “you aren’t a slave now,” “it didn’t happen to you,” and other derogatory trains of thought that mean to minimize the mental toll that systemic torture and defilement can have on generations, along with the reprogramming of an entire race of people to hate themselves, and forget everything about their homeland, but I digress.

The problem with Kanye’s above statement is, most people who are researching Bitcoin, stocks, property, and other things are people who already have success and the resources to invest in those options, because they are options, no doubt. People who are living from paycheck to paycheck do not have the money to spare in order to invest, therefore speaking about doing optional things the desperate people will fall on deaf ears. He is saying that investing and money are important to people but history and context are equally, if not more important, especially as it pertains to black people. Then, he goes on to even further diminish the great Harriet Tubman, saying, “Well, Harriet Tubman never actually freed the slaves. She just had the slaves go work for other white people.”

Let that sink in for a minute.

Kanye West has also engaged in several twitter rants that have ranged from mild comments about different things, to calling Kris Jenner “Kris Jung-On” and saying that he saved his first daughter from being aborted.

Let that sink in, too.

Kanye West is not well, and does not need to be making the decisions for anyone that could potentially have far reaching ramifications, world moving decisions, or society shaping opinions. He needs help, plain and simple. Good, old fashioned, no strings attached help. Instead of attempting to get him on any ballot, how about trying to convince him that he needs to go receive treatment for the condition (I have learned that to truly get rid of a condition, do not claim it, but just say what it is, such as saying “the bi-polar disorder” instead of “my bi-polar disorder".). We need to look past ridiculing him, and understand that what he needs is a hand, not a joke. We need to petition for his health, not his presidency, because it is imperative that he get help. Bi-polar disorder is something that can lead to very dire circumstances, and he deserves the chance to receive help.

With all that being said, guess who is helping Kanye get on the ballot? Republicans, of course. Why you ask?

Well, if they’re voting for Kanye, guess who they’re not voting for? Biden. And that’s just what they want from us. More division, so that he can remain in office.

Republicans Aid Kanye West’s Bid to Get on the 2020 Ballot

What they are doing is intended to divide us, so that they win, because they understand that unity among the oppressed has the power to break through, as we intend to. The more we allow those white people to cloud our judgment, the more we will allow them to continue with the unfair treatment through policies and laws that were created to covertly subjugate and harm people of color. I am not saying by any means that Biden is the absolute best candidate we could have gotten, because I have questions about him myself

BBUUUTTTTTTTTTT….

The same way that people said they had to make a tough decision between two evils in the 2016 election, we have to do the same thing again. And Kanye West is NOT one of those choices, so lease don’t waste your vote trying to make him one.
